SCT will require proof of both ownership and the purchase of the vehicle and we will remove the old code from the dongle and add the new processor code. If a Pro Racer purchases a new vehicle and wishes to switch the code that they have access to on their dongle, they may do so for $50.00. This has been an issue in the past and is the main reason why our policy had become so strict. It will also help to prevent users from tuning commercially with our products after purchasing the Pro Racer Package for personal use. We believe that this implementation will provide a more favorable upgrade path for individuals who wish to have access to more than one processor code. SCT has adjusted its policy for Pro Racers. Pro Racer Policy Update Effective 1/29/09 He was pretty decent about it, and helped me some at first, to get the basic hang of it. I don't know about $600 though! I bought mine on Ebay from Ted Jannetty. If you could buy the PRP brand new for $300 from a SCT dealer, it would probably be well worth it. Probably through hardware available on Moates. I'm not dead sure how you flash the car though. It's pretty rough looking, but it's free. I believe it was created in the early days of tuning, before companies like SCT did it commercially. There is open source, or at least free, tuning software available. How much does SCT charge for the dealer mustang software these days? and how much does it cost for updates? Do you only have to pay the updates if you want to keep adding the newer cars, or is it for software updates in general? I didn't want to swap the factory ecu and harnesses, because it involved a whole lot of pulling the dash. To tune it, you just load up the 2v tune initially, then start installing all the 4v base files and MAF, injector etc. Of course, each flash tool is locked to a certain car too, although if you had an extra ecu to "return to stock" temporarily, you could probably get around that too.Īnother tid bit is that I have a 2v GT computer and a Cobra 4v motor, since my car was a 4v swap. But I heard its one of those things SCT probably doesn't want you to know. The way I have it figured, if I wanted to, I could probably tune any 96-98 GT ecu I wanted, but I would have to start by loading the GGL4 file. The new box worked fine once I put my old tune in it. I found the processor/box codes online somewhere. It was something like ML-229 as I recall. So I ended up buying a different ecu code, but that had the same box number. When I suspected my GGL4 ecu was bad, I couldn't find another one. Each computer code you buy will actually work for any of the same ECU processor code, or hardware code (which I believe probably means the same thing as any strategy). Oh, by the way, I found some interesting things out along the way.
